    Hi there, the person may already be working with a support organisation. That organisation will provide help to you. And the person themselves will also be able to show you how to manage... in my experience, people with access challenges can often know exactly what is needed. But, due to discrimination coupled the strong drive to get a job, they aim to present as 'the same' as everyone else - they are so worried they won't get the job. Yet what they need is often so minor it really is not a barrier. And your organisation will see benefits from that other way of working for your other staff.

    Review their pay rates - maybe your organisation is paying too low cf the market? Help the employee to understand what they need to do to get their pay rate up. I am helping someone with this atm - we are looking at what skills are required to enter a better payment bracket and will put together a plan to make this happen

    Hi all, thanks so much for these response, very helpful.
    At this point in time, I think know what my key messages need to be. As part of my strategy, I am wondering if key messages (ideally in own language) provided on water bottles or T-shirts is an effective idea? Has anyone noticed any examples where 'useful' freebies have been provided? And if that has been helpful?
    Also, has anyone done any pre-communicating in the Islands to workers before they come to NZ? Any insights to share here please?
