• H&S Champions Learning Pathway
Hi Cathy, Im working on a project to develop the capability framework for HSRs. Its only just kicked off but we will be undertaking extensive stakeholder engagement to review the draft set of capabilities we have. Feel free to contact me on to chat further and keep across the developments.
  • How does pay in H&S compare?
I think most will agree that this is lower than comparable professions. The difficulty lies in the “emerging” status of the H&S profession. Until there are industry wide requirements and employer expectations for H&S practitioners and professionals to be experienced and qualified we will remain on lower salary bandwidths.
  • Gender in health and safety in NZ
Hi all, currently NZISM membership is 49.6% female and 50.4% male. Our stats change regularly as we grow our membership. Earlier this year, for the first time we had more female members than males which reached a peak of 53.7% females. In the lead up to this peak we generally sat at about 45% female to 55% male. But with a good portion of the profession amongst our members I am confident that the current 50/50 split represents the market.
  • Milestone - one thousand members
Well done thats a fantastic milestone. Keep up the great work everyone. This is an excellent forum to engage across the profession.

  • Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) Group Event
Hi Janet, there was a WISE event in Wellington last year. The committee we have just implemented to support this network will be reviewing different opportunities for events nationally. We definately want to get around to as many locations as we can, we just haven't determined yet how many we can achieve in a year and what the next location will be.

    Thanks
    Selena
