Workplace Exposure Limits - Worksafe Review
Work safe are reviewing 30 + exposure standards. Included in these are wood dust and respirable crystalline silica. They are inviting people to submit on these.
The draft standards
Other substances included are acetaldehyde, antimony, sulphur dioxide, styrene and many others.
It may pay to know if your business is compliant now or if it will be in the future if these standards are adopted.
On that note I would strongly recommend you engage a registered Occupational Hygienist to assist you with this work
Thanks for advising Stuart, Do you know when the review will be completed and are expected to come into effect?
I noted that welding fume was not on the list which was disappointing given the HSE (UK) bulletin issued earlier this year.
Hi John, it is expected that after the review process that the next version of the WES & BEI book will be available around November/December.
Hi Stuart, welding fume was reviewed last year as were various metals that can be found in welding fume.
