Life Membership of NZISM
A recent newsletter from NZISM indicated that Paul Jarvie has been awarded a Life Membership of NZISM. I would like to acknowledge that award and comment that is highly deserved.
I have known and worked with Paul for over 25 years and I know the amount of time and energy he put into building NZISM into the significant organisation it is today. He was on the national executive (or whatever it is called) for decades. A few things that come to mind are:
He and a very small group wrote the first Safety Management Professional Standard (in about 2002) which has developed into HASANZ.
He went to the UK to start dialogue with IOSH.
He was part of a team that continuously challenged what the role of NZISM should be and the best structure to achieve that.
Paul is moving away from active Occupational Healthy and Safety consulting and it is great time to thank Paul for the work he has done for our industry.
