Attached are two pieces on workplace respiratory carcinogens from the Mar/Apr edition of Safeguard magazine. They make for sobering reading but also suggest ways to deal with these risks effectively.

Trouble is, persuading senior management to invest in dealing with airborne risks which won't cause harm for months or years is always a challenge.

As part of our regular reader feedback, think of a time when you successfully pitched for such investment. How were you so persuasive?

You can respond in public here on the Forum, or privately here via a Survey Monkey form.

An edited selection of responses will be published in the May/June edition, but with no names attached. One randomly selected person will receive a prize, namely a copy of the latest book by Sidney Dekker, Foundations of Safety Science.

Smoking is known to cause cancer - but it is still done. Eating bacon increases the chance of bowel cancer. Does that change peoples behavior?
