Cannabis reform: report of the Chief Science Advisor's panel
For those who are yet to decide how to vote in the referendum (or even for those who have sort-of decided but are still open to persuasion), here released today is the neutral, science-based, easy-read
you've been waiting for:
(Spoiler alert: it doesn't recommend which way to vote. You've still got to work that out for yourself!)
Regarding the impact of legalisation on the workplace, it has this to say in the FAQ section, at the end of the heading "What happens if you get caught with cannabis now? How would it change?".
"Employers have the right to test for cannabis, as long as they have a policy in place (or contractual provision) that provides for drug testing."
Under the proposed legalisation law
"Legalisation will not affect the right of employers to test employees for cannabis use. For example, employers can still have policies (or contractual provisions) that require negative drug tests before they will employ someone to use heavy machinery."
I found the following RNZ interview interesting, as regards overall health impacts of legal/illegal cannabis
