Averil, welcome to the Forum! FYI there have been a couple of threads on this topic which could be useful (apologies if you've already looked at these!):
Hi Averil
CHASNZ has introduced the Totika Prequalification Scheme https://www.chasnz.org/totika, this scheme is the first in New Zealand to PAS91 Standard, which is also recognised by the Government. I'm working on Contractor Management at the moment, and in the Health industry we're looking at Totika for all DHB's. PAS91 is available to download and has the standard questions plus appendices if required.
Just as a question, what if they choose not to join we would still be doing multiple prequals, and if that is the case nothing has been gained for those of us that currently do 4 or more each year
I note that the header in the Totika says "Cross-recognition for Health and Safety pre-qualification in the NZ construction industry "
So I refer back to a question earlier "So will it apply to all industries? and would our customers need to be a part of it"
Reading the statement on the website it would appear that it only applies to the construction industry which only makes up 20% of our business so the numbers would not stack up. I would be better doing the multiple prequals as the cost is less than the cost of accreditation to Totika.
Hi Don, CHASNZ have adopted it, I understand there is more to be announced later this month. As I mentioned before, Totika is based on PAS91 (Publicly Available Specification). PAS91 Download
For clarity Tōtika is currently launching in Construction, but the scheme has been designed to apply across industries in the future. This project has been funded by government and once we have completed a successful roll out this year in construction, there are plans to broaden the 'umbrella' if that is what other industries desire. We also have plans to cover more than H&S to provide a single PQ recognition scheme for suppliers and buyers of services.
Hi Averil,
I have developed a lot of Industry Pre-Qualification procedures for different industries. Some are desk top assessments of Health and Safety Management systems and other more involved score tested assessments and work place audits for evidence. One size does not fit all and it depends on the industry you are involved in. Happy to help and I can forward you some examples if you e-mail me on chrissyatbwsafetydotcodotnz
