  • e-scooters as an approved form or work transport
We have a couple of E-bikes, no scooters. The bikes are constantly booked out and people enjoy using them. We produced a Safe Work Method Statement and train out to any staff who wish to use the bikes. We have an online booking for the E-Bikes. We have a regular maintenance program for the bikes. We do let our staff use at weekends too, so long as they have had the training.
  • HS Reps - Allowance / Payment for services
Sheri, that is good feedback, thanks.

    Nice Sherralynne.
We have "shout outs" during the months, and those people or teams or get shout outs can in to the pool for the companies awards on a quarterly basis. Yes they get a group morning tea and a gift card. This is for the whole business, not just H&S reps. One of the categories is Health, Safety and Wellbeing, the others are Integrity, Customer Service or Excellence.

    Nice Andrew!
Maybe food is the draw card for some.

I agree Sheri. Our representatives have gone to their union and asked the question. Last time we left it as is, no payments, (bribes). We certainly do have many who want to be a part of the health, safety and wellbeing in their daily lives. There are some that just do not get on that bus!
    Thanks for responding.
  • Workstation Ergonomics Assessment & Training
At Napier, we have got most staff in the offices with sit / standing work stations. It is fabulous. Those with extra issues, re backs for example, have fatigue mats. The fatigue mats certainly make a huge difference if standing for long periods of time.
  • Contractor Pre qualification /approval systems
We are a Council and as a region have banded together to get the same pre-qualification system. We have held workshops outside of office / working hours so that the contractors / sub-contractors can come and chat with us and see how the pre-qualification works. These workshops have worked very well and received with gratitude from the contractors.

At our Council we have also accepted that if a contractor / sub-contractor is pre-qualified with another system, and can prove that by sending us their current certification, then we will exempt them. e.g. they will still be an approved contractor but no need to sign up to our system we use. I feel that this is just and fair as you have all commented, that it costs so much to get pre-qualified. Being practical is what we are trying to achieve at our workplace and working with the contractors.
