we got the STRATA PAPR down to 1K each which is a great price and we now carry all the consumables in the store. So it may be a large initial outlay but in the long term, it is the best solution to cover beards. And Worksafe like them....

They accept SHE as well, But I have also found that the basic information is collected from all these prequal companies is the same, and they are looking at process with supporting evidence. As highlighted we went to TOTIKA to save money and time doing the same information for various prequal companies who have sold their product to our clients and convinced them that that is the way to go. Totika is the platform that holds these in 1 place so our customers can see that we have met a consistent independent standard. Personally, I do not like them but they have become a fact of life and our customers are using them as the benchmark when selecting suppliers.

I am still wondering what I would have done if they said no and called my bluff??

I have taken a slightly different approach and notified my customers that we were going to do a prequal, and register through TOTIKA. All but 1 was fine with it. So for that one I asked them to carry the cost of the extra compliance, and they have since accepted TOTIKA.

yes it is a framework, but it means that you only need to do 1 prequal and not several, so although there is a cost it is greatly reduced and you do not need to submit the same information more than once. So there it has to be a win-win situation..

We have gone as far as using full PAPR

I understand your approach but do question testing only unvaccinated workers, as this may create a us and them attitude. Which is a situation you possibly want to avoid as some anti-vaxers are resolute in their beliefs. And any perceived bias would be an open door for them to attempt to make life very hard. Just some ramblings

We are waiting for that day to come and then we will have some conversations, as a lot of the work we do does involve specialist skills...
  • No jab, no job?

I have a customer asking the same so all I have done is individually ask each worker, and as part of the planning for jobs do not send unvaccinated people to that site. The customer does not need to know the details, I just inform them that each person coming to the site is vaccinated. No individual details of the staff just a declaration from me that I have done the checks.
  • Do small fire extinguishers carried in work vehicles require an annual check

Yes they do tell you that but at the end of the day they are there to make money.
  • Do small fire extinguishers carried in work vehicles require an annual check
    ↪Chrissy Hansen
We have in place the annual checks so that we can see if they are serviceable and in some cases have not been fired off, above that, we also get drivers to take them out once a month as part of their checks and to shake them. This stops the dry powder from settling and getting hard at the bottom of the extinguisher. And as Steve has already pointed out if they are mounted outside the vehicle 6-month checks would be more appropriate.
