  • Audit Priming?
Well done I saw the photos looked like a great weekend
  • Audit Priming?
    your alive after the weekend??
  • Audit Priming?
Hi Jono, you are correct when I worked for a corporate company we were given 6 months notice for the Audit and spent a week prior getting the branch up to speed. It never sat well with me given that as soon as the audit was done they reverted back to the bad habits. We signaled this to the company but all they were interested in is that they passed. And the process was repeated a few times at different branches over the years.
  • Staff and H&S Rep Recognition
We have moved ours to include just daily performance and attitude towards fellow workers, contractors, and customers, so the HSEQ component is still there.

Still needs to be closely monitored to filter out the show ponies...
  • Confidentiality and Security of Accident Report details for employees
I use Vault and you can limit access and editing rights..
  • H&S apps (NZ based)
We use Damstra Vault, not the greatest but gets the job done, we are also looking around for an HSEQ system so any recommendations would be greatly accepted.
  • Is Covid still a health & safety thing?
It's still a thing but not taking as much time as before, probably about 3% of my time now compared to 90% at the height of the pandemic. It's great to be able to focus my efforts back on the other aspects of the role.
  • Health and Safety Meetings
    Thanks for that greatly appreciated
  • EROAD Rewards and accuracy
It could be argued that they are a third party and not entitled to see the information without the consent of the worker, especially if a conviction is going to take place. I do believe in the GPS equipment as a management tool but more and more it is being used to discipline people..
  • EROAD Rewards and accuracy
It took some doing but they got there, But I do find that companies use Eroad as a big stick to closely monitor vehicles, the drivers were so worried that they spent most of the time looking at the eroad to monitor their speed thus distracting them.
  • EROAD Rewards and accuracy
We had a similar issue where the signs on the road did not match up to the eroad by about 100 metres, so stopped using it for anything but monitoring
  • Load Restraint and Chain of Responsibility - seeking training providers
When looking at the chain of responsibility, yes it is the drivers but there is also shared responsibility for load restraint, some years ago I would not allow a vehicle to leave our premises until he restrained the load correctly. I am unaware of any formal courses but maybe contact the road transport association.
  • Safety Shoes
We just supply them then give an allowance each year to cover replacement, as for leaving we just let them keep the shoes regardless of time worked. As they are no use to anyone else.
  • Why Are We Still Killing Our Workers?
totally agree, the concept of killing workers cannot be a discussion because the outcome of the investigation may highlight some other reasoning for the fatality.
  • Omicron in the workplace: your challenge or your burden?
It became a burden that we have struggled through and is about to become greater as people look to us for more guidance as government agencies back off. The support we need is not going to be there (worksafe). But as usual we box on and get it done
  • Dealing with adverse and prohibited adverse conduct action
Please can you define an HSR investigation? as I have never heard of it before..
  • Dealing with adverse and prohibited adverse conduct action

Yes to issue a PIN you need all your ducks in a row and be able to provide evidence that you have exhausted other reasonable avenues, to do it incorrectly places the HSR in a position that they can have that position removed by worksafe in the worst-case...
  • Dealing with adverse and prohibited adverse conduct action
I agree with you, whatever the issue is it may have crossed into HR, but my basic question is why is an HSR conducting an investigation, would that not be the responsibility of the PCBU to investigate issues in the workplace with the HSR being a part of an overall team? not leading the investigation. And as already pointed out the HSR is there to represent the workers so is issuing a PIN against a worker the correct approach.

    Just some thoughts
  • RAT's Recording and Tracking Software Options
That is my take on the situation also
  • Reluctance to Shave - Risk to Health
there is an indicator on the filter and it becomes noticeable that the air flow is down. I got ours through the strata supplier based in Neslon
