Hiya I am Looking for some meaningful clips or videos, to encourage the HS team to be more proactive in injury prevention, identify issues, engaging with their teams promoting positive culture in HS areas, Any help appreciated Thanks
Have you seen our new Use Your Mouth video series?
Use Your Mouth features a comic duo of commentators in velour sport jackets who pop up in various workplaces to give a running commentary on using your mouth in the workplace.
Take a few minutes to check out Pat and Joe in our full video series and you’ll notice that five of the eight workplace scenarios are about a work-related health risk: bullying, fatigue, hazardous substances, manual handling and noise.
It’s really important that the “health” in health and safety gets the prominence it needs for businesses and workers to focus on health risk management as much as they do on safety risk management.
Pat and Joe have their own page on our website where you can watch their full series of videos. Have a look and feel free to share!
One way to get the staff to engage is to have behavioral based safety topics with the focus on what behavior led to the incident and what behaviour needs to change to ensure that it does not happen again. The staff are given a camera to show it the correct way and the incorrect way and has to present the topic at the monthly toolbox. Fun way to engage the staff.
Hi Sonya,
There's a plethora of safety clips out there. Weeding them out is a mammoth task but as previously said Worksafe has some, also the HSE (UK) has some as well worthy of consideration. I use a number of favourites one of which is the Weatherford RADAR video made by a site team but have used many that I have collected over the years, recognising the authors of course. Youtube has loads that can be saved to your computer as people like to make them freely available (some don't of course). I've been about positive engagement for donkeys years before it was a cool saying as its the guys out there that matter and can make the difference, not me so over the years I've tended to use short clips to keep it snappy and relevant. I might have to find a depository for all the videos I've amassed !
Hi Sonya
I have a friend who has made a video (8 minutes) on his story of an accident where he lost an eye. It is a very good emotional video and has a NZ context. There is a lot of bad videos on safety where they have tried to be light hearted, this isn't one of those.
He is showing the video at H&S meetings and telling his story and answering questions after. Obviously there is a cost for him to come to these meetings.
Let me know if you are interested in contacting him.
