Here's an evocative photo taken by WorkSafe's Keith Stewart circa 1982 from the cab of a crane during the construction of the BNZ Tower, 1 Willis St in Wellington. (A slightly different shot will appear on the cover of the Sept/Oct edition of Safeguard.)
Keith worked on the site and took a lot of terrific photographs, which can be viewed here.
I can imagine the image might provoke a couple of reactions: "Ah, the good old days!" or "What were they thinking?"
I love old photos like this. I wonder if the stats for the day were reflective of what was happening and true ? It was a different time and place so it would be easy to criticise, we can only learn from them and move on. Great photos of the time, thanks for sharing Peter.
